Circle K is an international organization that focuses on Service, Leadership, and Fellowship. There are over 12,000 members in 17 nations; on the International level, we partner with the March of Dimes, UNICEF, Better World Books, and Students Team Up to Fight Hunger. On the club level, we have about 25 members to work with Habitat for Humanity as well as other Circle K clubs in the area.
Relationship to Kiwanis and Key Club: Circle K is the college level of the Kiwanis Family, so we have a close relationship with our sponsoring Kiwanis club. Also, Circle K is a perfect opportunity for students interested in volunteering whether they were or were not in Key Club in High School. We also strive to connect with the Madison Aktion Club at least once a semester. Aktion Club is the Kiwanis branch for adults with disabilities so they can also make a difference in their community.
What we do around Madison and WI: In Madison, we strive to make a difference in any capacity. Whether it’s volunteering at a retirement home, working with Habitat for Humanity, or even helping the Madison Public Library. In Wisconsin, we work closely with the Easter Seals Camp Wawbeek in Wisconsin Dells. Camp Wawbeek provides a camp experience for anyone with a disability so that they can experience camp just like people without disabilities.
When are meetings and length: This semester (Spring 2010) our meetings are every other Wednesday, at 6:30 pm and they usually last about a half an hour.
Service and social activities: In mid-March we help the Madison Public Library to get ready for a book sale. In late March, we hold a new member induction so we can bond more as a club. Earlier in the semester we attended the Student Org Social at the Kohl center and made Valentines with Aktion Club.
